Were I now in England

Were I in England now I would likely be wearing a large woolen jumper of my father’s, and woolen socks also, and perhaps have a glass of whisky and water at my hand, or gin and tonic. There might be music playing and a fire would have been lit some time ago by my brother. I am surrounded by the usual array of notebooks, pen and books in the sitting room, looking onto the garden. It is likely that I would be in the middle of a letter and that I would wander out later with my twin, about the town, and retire only when I could no longer stand, to read in the red room in the attic that is my bedroom.
